I am upset about the prospect of putting the health of future senior citizens in the hands of Republicans.
I just looked at the House GOP budget proposal for fiscal 2019 (https://budget.house.gov). Their response to the accelerating growth in the national debt includes an alarming proposal to have private health plans compete with Medicare. Heavens no! There is not a shred of evidence that competition for health-care dollars controls costs or improves health outcomes.
I was pleased to discover online that Rep. Ron Kind, D-La Crosse, and Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., have voiced strong opposition to this misguided GOP proposal that decreases Medicare support for senior citizens during the next decade.
On the other hand, Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., is on record as a proponent of the GOP plan that seeks to balance the budget on the backs of senior citizens in need of health care. Please tell him that he is wrong.
