ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) -- Brandon Purcell hit a grand slam in the seventh inning, leading the GCL Cardinals to a 12-2 win over the GCL Mets on Thursday.

The grand slam by Purcell scored Zack Gahagan, Andrew Warner, and Victor Garcia to give the GCL Cardinals an 11-1 lead.

Brian Pirela (3-0) got the win in relief while GCL Mets starter Jurgen Jimenez (2-1) took the loss in the Gulf Coast League game. Francisco Justo gave up one run in three innings and recorded his second save of the season.

Jhoander Saez doubled and singled for the GCL Mets.

GCL Cardinals improved to 4-2 against GCL Mets this season.
