Northern Iowa senior guard Paul Jesperson hit the most memorable shot of a crazy NCAA tournament first round on Friday.

After No. 6 seed Texas tied the game with less 2.7 seconds remaining, Jesperson took the inbounds pass, made one dribble to the center of the court and heaved up a shot from the half line that banked in before the buzzer to give No. 11 seed Northern Iowa a 75-72 win.

Jesperson finished with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Panthers. Northern Iowa advances to play No. 3 Texas A&M in the second round on Sunday.

Jesperson played two seasons at Virginia before transferring to Northern Iowa prior to the 2013-14 season.
