A national-best six points last weekend gave University of Wisconsin men's hockey center Trent Frederic a Big Ten Conference weekly award.

Frederic was named the league's second star on Tuesday after he had three points in each game against Michigan.

The sophomore had a goal and two assists in both a 5-3 loss last Friday and a 4-2 win last Saturday. He was on the ice for all seven goals UW scored.

He was the first Badgers player to have back-to-back outings of at least three points against a conference opponent since Mark Zengerle in November 2010.

Frederic also was named the league's third star on Oct. 3.

Notre Dame goalie Cale Morris was the first star for the fifth time this season. Michigan's Jack Becker was the third star.

The 17th-ranked Badgers host No. 12 Minnesota on Friday and Saturday.
