ONALASKA — The La Crescent High School boys hockey team took advantage of its power-play opportunities in a 5-3 win over the Aquinas co-op Thursday in a nonconference game at the OmniCenter.
The win puts the Lancers — who scored on two of their six power plays — at 4-1 overall, while the Avalanche fall to 0-3.
“They did a nice job of taking advantage of some back-door opportunities,” Aquinas co-op coach Tim Hoehn said. “They had a real nice set up.”

Carter Schmitz scored his sixth goal of the season — the second of the game — with less than four minutes left in the second period.
Noah Salow followed in the third period with the eventual game winner just five minutes into the third.
Austin DeBoer scored his third goal of the season to ice the game. He leads the Lancers with 12 points this season.
