Last year, the De Soto track team had Vlad Scoville, Lydia Poulin and Kasey Ballwahn. Poulin and then junior Derek Sheehan finished up at sectionals, while Scoville ended his year at the state track meet.

With just more than 9 seconds left, Tanner Johnson gave the Pirates a two-point lead to cap a 12-6 De Soto (4-5) fourth quarter. Johnson finished with 15 points, while Dominic Luxton and Chuck Arnold scored 13 and 12, respectively, for the Falcons (2-8).
Jordan Cochroft scored 23 points to lead the Bulldogs, who outscored the Pirates 36-17 in the second half. Junior Shelby Buckles scored 14 and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Morgan Olson added 11 points for De Soto.
The Pirates opened the game on an 11-0 run behind the shooting of Kody Larson, who made two 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 21 points. Tanner Johnson added 13 for De Soto, which led 24-8 at halftime.
