Holmen gets two late TDs in Division 2 playoff win over Central

A 2-yard touchdown run by Noah Risch with 1 minute, 47 seconds left was the difference in the Holmen High School football team’s 14-7 victory over Central in a WIAA Division 2 playoff game a the Veteran Memorial Field Sports Complex tonight.

The Red Raiders (8-3) led 7-0 until Holmen quarterback Tyler Anderson completed a short pass to Dillon Martinez, who turned it into a 93-yard touchdown.

The extra point was missed, but the Vikings (11-0) made a defensive stop and drove 56 yards for the winning score.

Central put together a long drive on its final possession. It had a second-and-goal play, but a run by Ben Thornton to the right side ended up a fumble through the end zone for a touchback with 19.3 seconds left.

Second-seeded Holmen plays at top-seeded Oshkosh North (11-0) in a state quarterfinal game next weekend.
