PREP ROUNDUP | Holmen's Matl wins all-around title

HOLMEN — Holmen’s Alyssa Matl took first place on the vault (9.05), which propelled her to the all-around title (33.675) at a MVC meet at Holmen High School.

The Vikings scored 131.9 points to earn the team title.

Alexis Lor added a first-place effort on the uneven bars (8.95) for the Vikings. Teammate Carly Cornelius took first on the floor exercise (8.55).

La Crosse’s Courtney Garzee took top honors on the beam (8.85). Lor and Garzee tied for second in the all-around (32.625).

Bangor 68, Brookwood 27

ONTARIO, Wis. — Junior Canon O’Heron had 19 points to lead all scorers for the Cardinals (5-3, 4-0), who led 40-5 at halftime. Andrew Lockington, Broedy Jepson and Jack Reader each added 11 points for Bangor, while Dominic Luxton had 11 for the Falcons (2-4, 2-2).

Onalaska 54, Sparta 25

ONALASKA — Senior Natalie Soper scored seven first-quarter points, and senior Courtney Meyer added 10 in the second to help the Hilltoppers jump out to a 38-9 halftime lead.

Soper also left the game with a knee injury, but the severity of the injury was unknown after the game.

Meyer finished with a game-high 16 points, while Tayla Stuttley added 12. Soper finished with nine for the Hilltoppers. Kylee Laufenberg led the Spartans with eight points.

Westby 40, Viroqua 27

WESTBY — Senior forward Caycee Bean scored a game-high 15 points to power the Norsemen (5-1, 2-1), who led 20-7 at the half. Chelsea Olson added 10 for Westby, which was playing without senior Natalie Anderson, who missed the game with a sprained ankle.

Jessica Schmidt led Viroqua with eight points.

G-E-T 42, Black River Falls 27

GALESVILLE — Annalese Lamke scored 11 of her game-high 19 points in the first quarter as the Red Hawks (3-3, 2-1 Coulee) ran out to an 18-6 lead.

Central junior Brendan Londergan made 12 saves in goal to earn the shutout for the Red Rangers (3-4-1), while sophomore Waylon Alvrado recorded two assists. Jake Croteau added a short-handed goal for Central/Logan.

Onalaska 6, Viroqua 0

ONALASKA — Luke Tepp recorded a hat trick and added an assist as the Hilltoppers scored all their goals in the first two periods.

Bryce Bingham scored once and added three assists and Joe Witz made nine saves in the shutout for the Hilltoppers (7-1).

Michael Severson stopped 47 shots for Viroqua (3-3).
