The Lady Mustang cross country team finished in the middle of the pack at Monday’s Chileda Classic.

The Melrose-Mindoro girls came in sixth place among the 11 qualifying teams, and they were led by Anna Morabito in seventh place.

Morabito ran the meet in 15:00.2, which was 56 seconds behind individual winner Bailey Oettel of Logan, which won the meet as a team.

Macy Craig finished in 15:45.6 for 24th place among the 145 runners, and Avery Aasen came in 16:49.3 for 57th place to round out Mel-Min’s top three.

Logan had 31 points as a team, Central was second with 50 points and Viroqua took third with 88 points. Mel-Min had 171 points — just ahead of seventh-place Onalaska with 172.

Tiana Mikel was 64th in 17:09.0 for Mel-Min, and teammates Brianna Kowalsky (17:27.5) and Marissa Sime (17:27.8) came in together for 71st and 72nd places, respectively. Sam Kriesel (17:33.6) was 76th for the varsity squad.

The Mel-Min girls JV team also ran at the meet: Emily Oehler (80th, 17:39.2), Lexi Ruffi (104th, 18:40.4), Allison Gerdes (108th, 19:02.3), Bailey Hines (113th, 19:36.9), Stephanie Pipkin (120th, 20:01.8), Natasha Nuebauer-Linnehan (126th, 20:37.1), Ariel Hestekind (133rd, 21:44.2) and Pabhavadee Leumnarin (140th, 24:30.9).

The Mel-Min boys took 10th place out of 12 teams at the meet. Jacob Bryhn paced the Mustang team with a run of 17:52.9 for 44th place overall. Teammates Brent Knudson was 50th in 18:04.6 and David Bjorge was 63rd in 18:34.4.

Viroqua’s Isaiah Abt took first overall among the 170 runners with a time of 15:24.3. Central won the boys meet with 34 points followed by Brookwood with 64 and Viroqua with 75. Mel-Min had 273 points, coming in behind ninth-place Independence/Gilmanton with 268.

Derek Blaken was 82nd for Mel-Min with a time of 19:13.8, Isaiah Dolbier was 93rd in 19:37.5, Ryan Whitacre was 109th in 19:59.2 and Andy Marciulionis was 151st in 22:04.8.

Running JV for the Mel-Min boys was Jonah Kowalsky (152nd, 22:08.2), Griffin Murray-Benzing (158th, 23:05.8) and Nathan Bennett (170th, 31:51.5).

The Mustangs will be at Saturday’s Arcadia Invite at the Schultz Farm, and the Dairyland Conference meet will be Oct. 17 at Lincoln.
