Timberwolves claim second in MVC volleyball

The Tomah High School volleyball team clinched no worse than a tie for second place in the Mississippi Valley Conference with a convincing 25-18, 25-22, 25-21 victory over Onalaska Tuesday at Onalaska High School.

Tomah finished its MVC season with a 9-3 record. It has the bye in the final round of MVC matches that will be played tonight (Thursday).

The Timberwolves moved a half-game ahead of La Crosse Aquinas, which lost to MVC frontrunner La Crosse Central.

Junior Mikayla Richards and sophomore Jamie Gaarder led the Tomah offense with seven kills each.

Courtney Meyer led Onalaska with 13 kills.

Tomah gets nine days off before its WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal contest Thursday, Oct. 24. Seedings and sites hadn’t been assigned by press time.
