Ohio University junior Rudy Rott has been selected as a baseball player of the week by both the Mid-American Conference and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper after a four-game outburst for the Bobcats.
Rott, an Aquinas High School graduate and first baseman at Ohio, batted .444 and slugged 1.111 with eight hits, four home runs and nine RBI as the Bobcats (21-29 overall, 9-15 MAC) won one of four games.
Rott hit two home runs in a loss to Youngstown State and hit his 15th home run of the season to help the Bobcats beat Western Michigan on Saturday.
The left-handed slugger is leading the Bobcats in batting average (.373), on-base average (.454), slugging percentage (.686), doubles (15), home runs (15), RBI (49), walks (28) and runs scored (48).
Ohio will close out its regular season with a three-game series at Central Michigan. That series begins Thursday and ends Saturday.
