Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School graduate Nick Wagner is making the most of his first season with the Iowa Lakes Community College men's basketball team.

Wagner, who transferred after one season at Northern Illinois, is averaging 16.4 points per game after leading the team with 18 points in a 105-85 loss to Iowa Western on Saturday night.

Iowa Lakes (9-5) has lost two straight games, but Wagner has been a solid offensive addition this season.

The 6-foot-4 guard entered Saturday's game shooting 42.4 percent from the 3-point line and 81.5 percent from the free-throw line. He's also averaging 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Wagner's biggest game of the season came in a 31-point outburst against Northeast Community on Nov. 10. He also had five assists and four rebounds in that 115-111 victory.

Wagner is averaging 17 points over Iowa Lakes' last six games.
