Victories for the Logan and Sparta high school football teams were enough to earn spots as two of 15 Coulee Region teams that are officially part of the WIAA football playoff field.

The state association released teams that have qualified for the field and will release pairings on Saturday.

Logan (4-5, 3-4) beat Tomah, and Sparta (4-5, 3-4) knocked off Aquinas to join conference champions like Holmen (6-3), Westby (8-1), Bangor (8-1), Prairie du Chien (8-1) and Melrose-Mindoro (8-1) as part of the local contingent.

The following teams will be preparing next week for a Friday playoff game

Holmen (6-3), which beat Onalaska 49-14 on Friday to win the outright MVC championship will be joined by Central (7-2) as the only Division 2 teams from the area.

Onalaska (6-3) joins Sparta and Logan in Division 3, while West Salem) and G-E-T (6-3) will represent the area in Division 4.

Prairie du Chien (8-1, Arcadia (5-4) and Westby (8-1) are in Division 5, while Melrose-Mindoro (8-1) and Brookwood (6-3) enter the Division 6 bracket.

Bangor (8-1), Blair-Taylor (4-5) and De Soto (6-3) are all Division 7 playoff teams. The Wildcats, at 3-3, are the only other local team without a winning conference record to qualify.
