NOTEWORTHY: Holmen—The fourth-seeded Vikings have won five straight and beat Marshfield 34-0 last week. … Senior RB Drew Becker (122 carries-1,386 yards, 20 TDs) has scored at least one TD in every game but Holmen’s 49-14 loss to Menomonie in Week 2. … QB Isaac Handland (93-581, 6 TDs) rushed for 173 yards against Marshfield and has scored once in each of the last three games. … The Vikings average 344.9 rushing yards per game; Menomonie—The top-seeded Mustangs are led by RB Justin Evans (216-1,573, 25 TDs), who had 151 yards in win over Holmen, topped 200 yards twice and 300 yards once. … Menomonie advanced to last year’s state semifinals, has shut out three opponents this season and allows 120 rushing yards per game.


Onalaska (9-1) at Rice Lake (7-2)

NOTEWORTHY: Onalaska—The third-seeded Hilltoppers are led by senior QB Noah Skifton (1,782 passing yards, 23 TDs; 922 rushing yards, 10 TDs) and sophomore RB Nathan Lubinsky (176-1,022, 18 TDs). … Skifton and Lubinsky combined to rush for 239 yards and at least one of them was involved with all 6 TDs; Onalaska averages 364 yards per game and allows 197; Rice Lake—The second-seeded Warriors have three shutouts, but they came in the first four weeks of the season. … Rice Lake allows an average of 205 total yards (32 passing) per game and has forced 14 fumbles to go with 10 interceptions. … RB Brandon Sutton (131-787, 11 TDs) had 204 yards and 3 TDs in last week’s 35-7 win over Merrill.

West Salem (8-2) at Antigo (9-1)

NOTEWORTHY: West Salem—The fourth-seeded Panthers beat a good New Richmond team 17-14 last week. … RB Brendan Holt (194-1,243, 12 TDs) rushed for 129 yards and scored 2 TDs last week, while QB Ryan Beirne (1,122 passing yards, 11 TDs; 578 rushing yards, 3 TDs; 6 FGs) passed for 91 and rushed for 89. … The Panthers allow just 13.6 points per game; Antigo—The top-seeded Redbirds won the Great Northern Conference championship and walloped Medford 48-8 last week. … RB Jericho Kelly (124-932, 11 TDs) leads the team in rushing, but nine players carried the ball at least once last week. … QB Matt Winter rushed for 2 TDs and passed for another.


Westby (6-4) at Lake Country Lutheran (10-0)

NOTEWORTHY: Westby—The sixth-seeded Norsemen overcame a 22-point, second-quarter deficit to beat Lancaster 38-29 in the first round. … Westby has been getting big games from QB Alex Gluch (1,235, 11 TDs; 425 rushing yards, 7 TDs) and RB Ryan Daines (172-880, 18 TDs), who scored twice defensively last week; Lake Country Lutheran—The second-seeded Lightning have won at least two playoff games four times since 2011 and average 45.1 points per game and allow 7.6 after beating Kenosha St. Joseph 44-14 in the first round. … RB Dane Vance (137-1,337, 27 TDs) leads the offense, which also has QB Ethan Wilkins (66-111-999, 18 TDs-2 INTs).

Prairie du Chien (8-2) at Clinton (10-0)

NOTEWORTHY: PdC—The fourth-seeded Blackhawks are trying to win a second playoff game for the first time since 2008. … They didn’t end the regular season in the best of ways, but they rebounded for a good performance in beating New Glarus/Monticello 36-14. … RB Tyler Smock (164-1,367, 16 TDs) and QB Gavin Gillitzer (1,328 passing yards, 9 TDs; 482 rushing yards, 9 TDs) have kept the ball moving, and Smock had 268 yards and 3 TDs last week; Clinton—The top-seeded Cougars average 41.1 points and allow 10.5. … Senior RB Zach Krause (183-2,202, 25 TDs) has rushed for more than 300 yards twice with a season high of 399.


Unity (8-2) at Melrose-Mindoro (9-1)

NOTEWORTHY: Unity—The fourth-seeded Eagles beat Webster 20-0 last week by allowing 148 total yards and sealing the game with an interception return for a TD in the fourth quarter. … Unity allows 11.2 points per game and is led offensively by QB Hunter Pederson (46-102-908, 9 TDs-8 INTs), who passes for more than 100 yards per game; Mel.-Min.—The Mustangs pounded Lake Holcombe/Cornell 38-0 last week and have shut out five of their last six opponents. … RBs Jeremy Anderson (85-898, 18 TDs) and Brett Gerdes (49-512, 8 TDs) both still average more than 10 yards per carry


Independence/Gilmanton (9-1) at Bangor (10-0)

NOTEWORTHY: Ind./Gil.—The third-seeded Indees were only beaten by Melrose-Mindoro this season. … Ind./Gil. averages 37.6 points and allows an average of 8.7 points per game. It has yielded 53 of those 87 points in the fourth quarter. … The Indees are led by QB Ian Pfaff (73-125-1,273, 14 TDs-0 INTs) and RB Dayne Keenan (172-1,187, 24 TDs); Bangor—The top-seeded Cardinals average 54.2 points and allow 2.8 points and 122 total yards per game. … RB Luke Reader (130-1,285, 28 TDs) has topped the 100-yard mark nine times this season and scored 20 TDs in the last 5 games. … QB Drew Johnson (27-43-611, 14 TDs-2 INTs and 434 rushing yards and 9 TDs) has made the most of his chances on passing downs and been a reliable runner.

NOTEWORTHY: Chatfield—Chatfield defeated St. Charles 27-14 in its regular-season finale last Wednesday. … Chatfield averages 24 points per game while allowing 21.7 points per game. … The Gophers are on a three-game win streak, but lost to Caledonis 42-13 on Sept. 29; Caledonia—The Warriors are starting their pursuit of a third consecutive state championship. … Senior QB Owen King (118-199-1,714, 29 TDs-3 INTs) is having another huge season, and his top passing targets have been WRs Jordan Burg (36-535, 8 TDs), Andrew Goergen (31-513, 8 TDs in 7 games) and Sam Barthel (19-303, 6 TDs).
