Spring Grove vs. Cotter Boys Baseball 03

Caledonia's Andew Goergen slides into third base during the Warriors' doubleheader sweep of Winona Cotter in Winona on Monday. Caledonia won 7-0 and 14-0 and didn't allow the Ramblers a hit.

WINONA — The Caledonia High School baseball team didn’t receive perfect pitching on Monday, but it couldn’t have asked for much better.

The Warriors beat Winona Cotter 7-0 and 14-0 in a Three Rivers Conference doubleheader, and three Caledonia pitchers held the Ramblers hitless during the sweep.

Casey Storlie struck out 10 and walked three in the first game, and Evan Denstad and Riley Cordes combined to strike out nine and walk three in the second. Storlie pitched all five innings of the opener, and Denstad pitched two before yielding to Cordes in the second game.

The Warriors (12-1) got rolling again after last week’s loss to Rushford-Peterson by scoring five runs in the top of the sixth inning of the first game.

Denstad, a junior, doubled and drove in two runs. Storlie and Mason Staggemeyer also drove in one run apiece.

The Warriors scored four runs in the first inning and eight in the second to take care of the Ramblers quickly in the second game.

Cordes struck out seven during three innings of relief pitching, and Storlie hit a home run and drove in four runs during a 3-for-3 offensive performance.

Andrew Goergen also drove in two runs with a pair of singles for Caledonia.
