Aquinas High School senior Shealyn McCoy made things official Wednesday by signing her National Letter of Intent to continue her education and golf career at NCAA Division II St. Cloud State.
McCoy helped the Blugolds win the WIAA Division 2 state championship last fall by shooting a 36-hole score of 174 at University Ridge Golf Course. McCoy shot rounds of 87 and 87 and had the seventh-best two-day score among state qualifiers in Division 2.
McCoy finished eighth for season points in the MVC as a senior and earned a spot on the All-MVC second team. She tied for third in one conference meet, placed fifth in another and tied for fifth in another.
McCoy tied for fourth place with a round of 95 at Trempealeau Mountain to help Aquinas win a regional championship, then placed 13th with a 94 as the Blugolds finished as sectional runners-up at Yahara Hills in Madison.
McCoy also played on the Aquinas basketball team that went undefeated and won a Division 4 state champion in March.
St. Cloud State placed as high as third during two invitationals on the fall portion of its schedule and is preparing for the NSIC championships, which are scheduled to begin April 19.
The Huskies are golfing invitationals with three seniors and two juniors this season.
