Arcadia vs. Aquinas Playoff Softball (copy)

Arcadia's Kendra Bjorge pitches during a WIAA Division 3 sectional semifinal game against Aquinas last season. Bjorge pitched a three-hitter on Friday as the Raiders opened their season by beating Logan 6-1.

The Arcadia High School softball team scored twice in the first inning and twice in the seventh to beat Logan 6-1 in a nonconference game at Logan on Friday.

Abby Suchla went 4-for-4, scored twice and drove in two runs for the Raiders (1-0), who had 10 hits. Nicci Sendelbach singled and scored in both the first and seventh for Arcadia, which received three-hit pitching from Kendra Bjorge.

Suchla, who played center field, singled in the first and fifth innings and doubled in the third and seventh. She drove in a run on each double and scored in the first and seventh.

The Raiders, who went 8-4 and placed second in the Coulee Conference last spring, are trying to knock Onalaska Luther from the top of the conference standings this season. Bjorge, Suchla and sophomore Linzy Sendelbach are returning all-conference performers for Arcadia, which plays next at Tomah (1-0) on Tuesday.

The Timberwolves beat G-E-T in five innings to begin their seaosn on Thursday. Sophomore Josie Mathison hit a home run and drove in seven runs for Tomah.
