Elaine R. Prissel, 89, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at the Tomah Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 2, 1928, to Harry and Vera (Helbig) Carlisle in Durand, Wis.
Elaine was educated in the Durand school system and went on to Eau Claire Teacher College in 1947. After graduating college, she returned to Durand to teach. On March 25, 1949, she married Ronald Prissel of Arkansaw, Wis. Elaine changed her career to working for the Wisconsin State Department of Agriculture, for the local ASCS office, while Ron worked as a field-man for the Durand Creamery. The couple moved to the Tomah-Warrens area, when Ron became one of the first three original Wisconsin State Patrol Inspectors.
She is survived by her children, Ruth (Bill) Steinhoff of Tomah, Rhonda (Gary) Jensen of Warrens, Mike (Denise) Prissel of Tomah and Tracey (Joan) Prissel of Tomah; grandchildren, Kristopher (Julie) Steinhoff of Tomah, Andrea (Troy) Tessman of Warrens, Emillie (Tim) York of Kendall, Teresa (Matt) Forsberg of Plymouth, Minn., Reanna (Bryan) Beck of Warrens, Tera (Todd) Frederick of Holmen, Tessa Prissel of Tomah, Courtney (Ryan) Repinski of La Crosse and Allison Thomas of Johnstown, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Nolan Tessman, Sabin and Atlin Steinhoff, Alexis York, Abby, Stella and Natalie Beck, Adrienne Forsberg, Khloe Frederick; and future great-granddaughter, Mira Repinski.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ron; and her only sister, Pat Carlisle Rhiel.
Elaine’s family is forever grateful for the wonderful care she received at Touch of Home and for the gentle and compassionate care during her final and brief stay at the Tomah Memorial Hospital. Also, a special thank you to the staff at the Gundersen Clinic, Tomah Memorial Hospital, Tomah Ambulance Service and the Torkelson Funeral Home.
Per Elaine’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held, instead a celebration of her life will be held for family and friends from noon until 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Ground Round in Tomah. Private family interment will be held at a later date in the Dannavang Cemetery, town of Lincoln.
