A Camp Douglas man faces criminal charges after police say he abused a woman.

Jesse Mannise, 29, is charged with misdemeanor battery, domestic abuse and disorderly conduct.

According to the criminal complaint:

A Juneau County deputy made contact with individuals at a residence in the village of Camp Douglas at about 7:35 p.m. May 17 after receiving a report of a disturbance.

The deputy was informed by the reporting party, a 24-year-old female, Mannise behaved abusively toward her and “would like someone to help her.” She stated Mannise hit her with a shoe and verbally abused her.

The argument took place over a doctor’s appointment Mannise did not want the female to go to. After telling him he was “very controlling,” Mannise became upset and began yelling insults at her before hitting her in the head with a tennis shoe. On the way home from the doctor’s appointment, Mannise stated “she deserves everything he had ever done to her because she had gotten him in trouble with law enforcement in the past with domestic abuse incidents.”

Afterward, the female fled the residence while Mannise was in the bathroom. She left with one of her children but wanted an officer present so she could return to get her other child.

Upon arriving at the residence, officers found Mannise and the child were not there. They were later located at a neighbor’s home.

Mannise was reluctant to come to the door and denied all allegations made by the female, saying she “was crazy, and her mother hated (me).” He also said he had “done things to (her) that he was not proud of,” but did not touch her that day. He then began to cry.

Mannise is currently in the Juneau County Jail.
