The eighth annual VA2K Walk & Roll will be held on May 17 at the Tomah Veterans Administration Medical Center starting at 11 a.m.

The VA2K event includes a two-kilometer walk (approximately 1.2 miles), and the community is invited to participate. The event is free, and it is suggested that participants be at the Tomah VAMC 15 minutes prior to the start.

Participants are encouraged to bring a voluntary donation such as coffee, coffee supplies, crock pots, clothing, toiletries, packaged food or bottled water. The donations will be collected and distributed to local homeless veterans. Donations are not required to participate.

Nationally, since 2011 donations valued at approximately $2 million dollars have been raised for homeless veterans.

“The VA2K Walk & Roll is one of the ways we encourage our staff to adopt healthy lifestyles. It’s also a great way for them to help homeless veterans,” said Victoria Brahm, Tomah VAMC Director.

Community groups that are interested in participating in the event should contact the local VA2K coordinator, Cindy Clay at 608-372-3971 ext. 64454.
