Construction of a new ambulance building is back on the Tomah City Council agenda.

Council members this week will decide whether to move ahead with a Tomah Area Ambulance Service building on the site of the new Tomah Health hospital. The Committee of the Whole meets at 6:30 p.m. tonight (Monday), and the regular council meeting is Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Last month, the council tabled a proposal to construct an ambulance barn with residential quarters, office space, billing and reception area, conference room, training center, exercise room, oxygen storage and laundry. The cost is estimated at nearly $3 million.

TAAS had 221 calls for service in May.

Other agenda items include:

  • Revenue bonds totaling $888,000 through Wisconsin’s Safe Drinking Water loan program.
  • A review of rules that allow citizens to speak before the council.
  • Revision of a sidewalk ordinance that allows mobility scooters on the Superior Avenue sidewalk from Council Street to Washington Street.
  • Approval of the Fourth of July parade route.
  • Request to close municipal parking lots for an Aug. 11 street fest/block party.
  • Consideration of the wage and benefit package for the Senior & Disabled Service coordinator.

Tuesday’s meeting begins in closed session to confer with legal counsel over personnel reclassification and other personnel issues.
