Local talent will be on display again as the Wisconsin Talent Search Semifinals returns to the Monroe County Fair Thursday, July 26 starting at 7 p.m. at the Family Entertainment Center.

Youngsters ages 2-18 will compete for cash prizes and a chance to advance to the Wisconsin State Fair Sunday, Aug. 12 from noon to 6 p.m. in West Allis.

“I think everybody looks forward to the talent show,” said Monroe County Agricultural Society president Chris Schreier. “It’s all local performers.”

Organizers have scheduled a fast-paced show. Performances are limited to three minutes each with a maximum setup time of three minutes. Performances exceeding three minutes are subject to a points deduction or disqualification.

Contestants are divided in youth (ages 2-12) and teen (ages 13-18) and compete in dance, vocal, instrumental and variety. Winners from previous shows are eligible, but if the act has already qualified for the state fair, it would receive the local prize but the second-place act would advance to West Allis. Acts are limited to five performers.

The deadline for entries was July 6.

Prizes are in both categories are $250 for first place, $150 for second place and $100 for third place.

Contestants will receive complementary gate fee admission.
