The Tomah Area School District announced its first group of new teaching hires for the 2018-19 school year.

The Tomah Area School District has announced the first group of new teachers added to the instructional staff for the 2018-19 school year.

Deb Barreau comes to Tomah with several years of teaching experience and will be joining the Lemonweir Elementary School staff as a Title I teacher. Lindsey Forbes also has teaching experience and will be filling a Title I position at Lemonweir.

Lemonweir begins its second year with a year-round calendar July 16.

The middle school and high school band programs are expanding, and Jennifer Schraufnagel has accepted her first teaching position as a middle and high school band teacher.

Emily Fasbender, a Tomah native, and has been substitute teaching in the district and will join the Miller Elementary School staff as a special education teacher.

Meghan Moore, also a Tomah alumnus, is filling the kindergarten vacancy at Miller. She returns to Tomah with experience teaching kindergarten and second grade.

The district is expected to announce additional new hires in August.
