Southwest Wisconsin Technical College business management majors will soon find it easier to transfer credits to complete a business administration degree at Upper Iowa University (UIU) after administrators from both educational institutions formally announced an articulation agreement Aug. 13 at the UIU-Prairie du Chien Center.

Both colleges consider the ability to transfer credits from a technical college to a four-year university to be a huge draw.

Southwest Tech, located in Fennimore, has more than 1,600 full-time students and offers technical education. Upper Iowa University, based in Fayette, Iowa, has more than 5,800 students. Many of UIU’s students study at sattelite campus locations, such as Prairie du Chien.

UIU is well-known for its nationally-rated online programming.

The agreement furthers cooperation that started between the two schools in 1988, when UIU began offering classes at Prairie du Chien.
