The Viroqua City Council approved several mayoral committee appointments at its meeting Tuesday night.

Alderpersons approved Jess Johnson to fill the three-year term of Don Long and reappointed Bill Mapp to a three-year term on the Board of Appeals. For the Board of Review, the Council approved Johnson to fill the five-year term of Long and reappointed Valdo Gilman to a five-year term. For the Plan Commission, Gilman was reappointed to a three-year term, and Terry Noble and Sonya Newenhouse were appointed to three-year terms. Rebecca Wainscott was appointed to a three-year term on the Tree Board. Barb McNeal was reappointed to a five-year term on the Police and Fire Commission. Gregory Splinter, Michael Corr and Tom Wilson were all reappointed to three-year terms on the Historic Preservation Commission.

The City Council also voted 8-0 to have the Committee of the Whole serve as the steering committee for the Rock Avenue project and master plan. Alderperson Terry Noble was absent.

In other business, the Council approved operator licenses. In addition, the Council approved a temporary picnic license application for the Viroqua Area Pullers. The Viroqua Area Pullers are holding an event at the Vernon County Fairgrounds July 20-21.
