Dedication WAHS

WAHS President Blane Hedberg addresses people attending the diorama dedication.

On Sunday, Oct. 22, Blaine Hedberg, President of the Westby Area Historical Society, spoke to guests at the Thoreson Museum open house when he dedicated a 1910 Downtown Westby diorama to the memory of Eric Leum. The event was attended by many people in the area who were seeing the display for the first time since its arrival in August.

Mike Mowery spent a total of eight years on the research and creation of the model, using many vintage photographs and information that were shared by Leum before his death in March 2016. Meticulous attention to detail was also researched through city and county records. Members of the organization, along with volunteers from WCCU, arranged the display area to highlight the diorama.

If you were not able to attend, please come to a WAHS meeting at 5:30 p.m. on the first Monday of every month, or schedule an appointment to tour the museum. WAHS would like to thank Mike for this spectacular donation.
